The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has officially unveiled a brand-new TotalEnergies CAF Champions League trophy, symbolizing a bold step forward in the evolution of Africa’s premier club football competition.

The unveiling ceremony, held at TotalEnergies’ South African headquarters in Johannesburg on Thursday, brought together African football legends including Lucas Radebe, Teko Modise, and Siphiwe Tshabalala, alongside senior CAF officials and other stakeholders.

The historic occasion comes just days before the highly anticipated 2024/25 CAF Champions League final between South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns and Egypt’s Pyramids FC. The first leg will take place this Saturday in Pretoria, with the second leg set for June 1 in Cairo. The winners will be the first to lift the new trophy.
CAF described the redesigned trophy as more than a replacement—it is a symbol of the organisation’s commitment to innovation, modernisation, and the global repositioning of African football.

“In line with the vision of CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe, we are rebranding and repositioning African football, with a special focus on interclub competitions,” said CAF General Secretary Véron Mosengo-Omba. “This new TotalEnergies CAF Champions League trophy is a powerful statement of our ambition to elevate African club football, enhance its commercial value, and inspire future generations of players.”
TotalEnergies, a long-standing partner of CAF, played a pivotal role in the redesign. Speaking at the unveiling, Olagoke Aluko, Managing Director and CEO of TotalEnergies Marketing South Africa, celebrated the moment as a testament to unity and progress.
“This unveiling is about more than a trophy. It’s about celebrating the spirit of African football, which brings people together across borders,” Aluko said. “As a trusted energy partner on the continent, TotalEnergies is proud to support a sport that reflects our core values—diversity, unity, and cohesion.”

The new trophy design draws on the continent’s deep cultural heritage and fierce football rivalries. It features a striking blend of sleek silver and gold lines that symbolize unity, competition, and balance. At its summit is a golden sphere adorned with African motifs, representing victory and excellence.
The interplay between the metallic tones celebrates both the glory of champions and the respect owed to their challengers, reflecting the spirit of ambition and honour at the heart of African club football.
CAF’s unveiling of the redesigned trophy reinforces the broader rebranding of its competitions and serves as a visual representation of the prestige, history, and passion that define the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.
