In a major breakthrough against insurgency in the North-East, troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) successfully neutralized 16 ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists in a coordinated operation in Damboa, Borno State, early Thursday morning.

According to military sources, the operation began at approximately 1:00 a.m. when troops on watch identified a group of insurgents attempting an assault on a brigade position in the area. The soldiers responded swiftly with sustained indirect fire, which disrupted the enemy’s advance.
The intensity of the clash prompted the immediate deployment of air support, which played a decisive role in suppressing the terrorists. After nearly two hours of heavy fighting, the insurgents were forced to retreat, leaving behind several casualties.

Sixteen terrorists were confirmed neutralized in the encounter, while a pursuit operation is currently underway to track down fleeing elements of the group.
During the firefight, an ammunition storage area was briefly compromised, but the situation was swiftly contained, preventing further escalation or damage.
The Nigerian military continues to ramp up counterinsurgency efforts in the region, with this operation marking a significant blow to terrorist activities in Borno State.
