The Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia, has denied reports that he is planning to leave the All Progressives Congress, describing such claims as “laughable and lame.” In a statement, Alia’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, said the governor’s loyalty to the APC is not in doubt and that there is no crisis in the party’s Benue chapter.
Kula added that Alia has a good working relationship with the APC chairman in Benue, Benjamin Omale, and has been actively participating in the party’s affairs.
The governor’s denial comes amid speculations that he might be planning to defect from the APC due to alleged internal party crisis in the Benue chapter.
However, Kula dismissed these claims, stating that Alia has consistently demonstrated his commitment to the party.
He cited Alia’s recent endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the APC’s sole candidate for the 2027 presidential elections as evidence of his loyalty.
Kula further emphasized that the APC in Benue is united and functioning effectively under Omale’s leadership.
He described the relationship between Alia and Omale as “super working,” noting that the party has been performing its functions effectively at both state and national levels.
