The Super Eagles’ preparations for the 2025 Unity Cup are gathering pace in London, with ten home-based players already in the UK for the four-nation invitational tournament.

Set to take place at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium, the Unity Cup will feature Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago, in a celebration of football and cultural unity across Africa and the Caribbean.

Among the early arrivals in camp are Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) stars Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, Junior Nduka, Sodiq Ismaila, Waliu Ojetoye, Papa Mustapha, Collins Ugwueze, Saviour Isaac, Sikiru Alimi, and Abubakar Adamu. They are joined by veteran forward Ahmed Musa, currently playing for Kano Pillars.

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has opted for a squad that blends local league standouts with established international stars. He hopes the early arrival of the home-based players will foster team chemistry before Nigeria’s opening clash against long-time rivals Ghana on Wednesday, May 28.

The Unity Cup, scheduled from May 27 to 31, offers a valuable platform for NPFL players to compete alongside Europe-based teammates and push for future national team call-ups.

Chelle’s inclusion of ten domestic players underscores the rising standards in the NPFL and highlights the team’s commitment to developing homegrown talent. More international players, including Moses Simon, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Samuel Chukwueze, are expected to link up with the squad in the coming hours.
