Thirty-three persons have been feared killed by suspected herdsmen in coordinated attacks on Gwer West and Apa Local Government Areas of Benue State, leaving many residents missing.
The attacks occurred on Sunday evening, with 17 people killed in Tse-Antswam community in Gwer West and 16 others killed in Edikwu and Ankpali communities in Apa LGA.
Many people are still missing, and headcounts are ongoing, with displaced residents seeking shelter in a primary school where police and vigilantes are providing security.
The attacks have compromised public safety, and the police have yet to comment on the incident.
