The Take It Back Movement, a grassroots activist group, has called on Nigerians to mark June 12 as a national day of resistance against President Bola Tinubu’s government, accusing it of betraying democratic ideals and suppressing citizens’ rights.
The group’s National Coordinator, Juwon Sanyaolu, condemned the government’s actions, citing harassment of journalists, detention ofs activists, and restriction of peaceful assembly, facilitated by the weaponization of the Cybercrime Act.
The group highlighted ongoing violence and insecurity in rural communities, particularly in Plateau, Benue, Southern Kaduna, and the Middle Belt, and urged citizens to mobilize and defend their rights.
Rejecting official Democracy Day ceremonies, the Take It Back Movement vowed to use June 12 as a day of resistance, marching for the rights of the silenced, the displaced, and the starving masses abandoned by a corrupt elite.
