President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently addressing a joint session of the National Assembly in Abuja, as part of activities commemorating Nigeria’s 26 years of uninterrupted democratic rule.
Lawmakers from both chambers of the National Assembly are in attendance at the complex, where the President is expected to highlight the nation’s democratic journey and key policy directions moving forward.

Later in the day, a Democracy Day lecture is scheduled, with political leaders expected to deliver keynote speeches on pressing national issues.
Among the dignitaries present at the joint session are Governors Hope Uzodimma (Imo) and Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa); Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN); Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, and several cabinet members. Also in attendance are former Senate Presidents Bukola Saraki and Ken Nnamani; former Governors Aminu Masari and Anyim Pius Anyim; and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.
