The World Health Organization (WHO) director-general, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has reported that over 40 people, including children and healthcare workers, were killed in an attack on a hospital in Sudan’s West Kordofan state.
The attack occurred near the front line between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, who have been fighting since April 2023.
The WHO Sudan office confirmed that six children and five medics were among the victims, with extensive damage to the facility.
Tedros called for an end to attacks on health infrastructure, without attributing blame.
