The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested an ex-international football player, Segun George Hunkarin, along with his businessman partner, Ntoruka Emmanuel Chinedu, over an attempt to smuggle a consignment of cocaine into Nigeria through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos.
Chinedu was arrested upon his arrival at the Lagos airport with 800 grams of cocaine concealed in his carry-on bag, while Hunkarin, who was waiting for him at the airport car park, was also tracked and arrested.
The NDLEA also arrested other suspects, including a Europe-based businessman, Amen Okoro Godstime, who attempted to traffic Tramadol to Spain, and two passengers at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport (AIIA), Enugu, who were found with methamphetamine and cocaine.
