Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, on Monday inaugurated an Independent Campaign Group (ICG) to mobilise support for All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the upcoming July 12 local government elections.
Jandor, who defected to the APC in March 2024 after leading the PDP’s 2023 governorship bid, said the initiative reflects his renewed commitment to ensuring the party’s victory at all levels. The group was officially unveiled at an event attended by party leaders and stakeholders, including Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals.

He described the ICG as a self-sponsored coalition made up of loyal grassroots mobilisers, youth volunteers, and community leaders spread across the 377 wards in Lagos State’s 57 local councils and development areas.
“This is about ensuring credible representation at the grassroots level. It’s not just politics; it’s about deepening good governance and development,” Jandor stated.
He explained that the group, led by 24 state apex leaders, 57 local government coordinators, and 377 ward leaders, will begin ward-based engagement, voter education, and door-to-door mobilisation to amplify the APC’s message of continuity and effective governance.
Princess Orelope-Adefulire, who unveiled the campaign team, praised Jandor for his grassroots influence and dedication to party growth.
“Jandor is a true party man. He doesn’t wait for a title or position to act. On behalf of the President, the Lagos State Governor, and the APC state leadership, we appreciate your efforts,” she said.

The APC state chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, was represented at the event by his deputy, Moshood Maiyegun.
Other dignitaries at the event included former PDP deputy governorship candidate Safuratu Abdul-Kareem and ex-PDP state deputy chairman turned APC chieftain, Chief Ola Apena
