Former Nigerian Goalkeeper Legend, Peter Rufai popularly known as “Dodomayana,” has died at the age of 61.




The passing was confirmed by a senior Lagos State Government official, though the family has yet to make an official announcement.
Rufai died on Thursday morning, July 3, 2025, after battling a prolonged illness.
A revered figure in Nigerian football, the 61-year-old earned 65 caps for the Super Eagles. He featured prominently in two FIFA World Cups and was instrumental in Nigeria’s triumph at the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations.
