This was disclosed by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, during a press briefing held in Abuja.
According to him, troops under Operation UDO KA successfully apprehended the suspects connected to the high-profile abduction. In a related operation, eleven other suspects believed to be logistics suppliers and collaborators of terrorist elements were captured in Borno and Yobe States.

Providing a broader update on military operations conducted between April and June 2025, Kangye revealed that a total of 1,991 suspects were arrested, while 682 terrorists and their family members voluntarily surrendered to the Nigerian military. He also confirmed the destruction of 174 illegal oil refining sites across various locations.
In the Niger Delta region, troops under Operation Delta Safe intercepted and foiled an attempt to steal crude oil and petroleum products valued at over ₦3 billion, dealing a major blow to oil thieves and pipeline vandals.
