Libya’s Ministry of Interior has held talks with Egyptian diplomats to finalize security arrangements for the reopening of Egypt’s consulate in Tripoli.
The meeting between Major General Hassan Al-Sharif, head of Libya’s General Directorate for Diplomatic Missions Security, and Egypt’s chargé d’affaires Tamer El-Hefny, focused on logistical and security measures.
According to a statement posted by the ministry, the consulate is expected to resume operations in the Libyan capital in the coming days.
The discussions also included broader coordination to secure all diplomatic missions operating in Libya.
The step is part of ongoing efforts to stabilize the capital and provide a safe environment for diplomatic activities.
Earlier, Egypt’s Assistant Foreign Minister for Libyan Affairs, Ambassador Tarek Dahroug, had confirmed that Cairo intends to reopen its consulate in Tripoli by the end of this year.
