Former presidential spokesman Femi Adesina says former President Muhammadu Buhari could have been long dead if he had used Nigerian hospitals for his treatment.

Adesina, who spoke during Channels Television’s special coverage of Buhari’s funeral, explained that Buhari had always used London hospitals before becoming president in 2015, and the UK doctors were already familiar with his medical history.

Adesina attributed the decision to seek treatment abroad to the lack of facilities and expertise in some Nigerian hospitals, which he believes would have been inadequate for Buhari’s medical needs.

He emphasized that the former president’s decision to seek treatment in London was informed by the need for quality medical care that might not have been readily available in Nigeria.

The former presidential spokesman’s comments come amid criticisms over Buhari’s decision to seek medical treatment abroad, with some questioning why he didn’t utilize Nigerian hospitals.

However, Adesina believes that Buhari’s choice of medical care in London was justified, given the complexity of his medical condition and the expertise available in the UK.
