A member of the House of Representatives, Jamilu Muhammad, representing Kankara/Faskari/Sabua Federal Constituency of Katsina State, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing internal disunity, anti-party activities, and the party’s failure to provide effective opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In his resignation letter, Muhammad stated that the PDP has deviated from the ideals necessary to address Nigeria’s current challenges and expressed frustration over the party’s lacklustre response to national issues.
He also criticised the conduct of some party members during the recent re-run election in his constituency, describing their actions as damaging to party unity.
Muhammad hinted at building a new coalition, saying it’s time to align with like minds across political divides to build a formidable coalition that will give Nigerians a real alternative.
His resignation adds to the growing wave of defections and resignations from the PDP in recent months.
