Türkiye and Libya have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen their cooperation in the fields of mining, energy, and infrastructure.
The agreement, signed by Murtaza Karanfil, Chairman of the DEIK Türkiye-Libya Business Council, and Fouad Al-Awwam, CEO of Emaar Libya Holding Company, aims to increase bilateral trade volume and promote joint investments in these sectors.
Karanfil noted that Türkiye’s relations with Libya have a long history and that this cooperation will provide Turkish businesses with a significant advantage, particularly in eastern Libya.
The agreement also seeks to develop cooperation with eastern Libya and increase the trade volume beyond the current $4 billion.
With rich mineral deposits discovered in southern Libya, Karanfil emphasized the potential for Turkish companies to explore mining opportunities in the region.
Currently, only six Turkish companies are registered with the Libya Mining Group, and the goal is to increase this number and work closely with Libya, especially in the energy sector.
