Egyptian security forces carried out a raid on a militant hideout in Cairo’s Giza district, resulting in the deaths of two armed men and one civilian. A police officer was also injured during the operation.
The militants, affiliated with the Harakat Sawa’ed Misr (Arms of Egypt Movement), a group linked to the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood, opened fire on security forces, who returned fire, killing them.
The civilian who died was a passerby caught in the crossfire.
The group had been under surveillance for weeks, accused of planning attacks on security and financial agencies.
This operation follows a video attributed to the group surfacing on social media, claiming to resume operations in Egypt and criticizing the government’s stance on Israel’s war in Gaza.
