The Katsina State Government has disclosed that over 100 members of the Katsina Community Watch Corps and more than 30 police officers have lost their lives in the ongoing battle against banditry.
Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Muazu, made this known in a statement on Monday, July 28, 2025, while addressing growing concerns over false narratives on social media.
Dr. Muazu condemned those spreading unverified reports aimed at inciting fear and undermining the government’s efforts to tackle insecurity.
The commissioner emphasized that success in fighting banditry depends on collective support from both the government and citizens.
He urged residents to remain calm, resolute, and vigilant, reporting any suspicious activities to the authorities. Dr. Muazu highlighted the complexity of the fight, noting that many attacks occur in deep forests, requiring coordinated response operations and local intelligence.
While acknowledging significant progress under Governor Dikko Radda’s leadership since 2023, Dr. Muazu mentioned areas still experiencing insecurity, including Malumfashi, Kurfi, and Faskari.
He called on citizens, religious leaders, and community elders to continue offering prayers and support in the fight against banditry.
