England women’s national team manager Sarina Wiegman received an unforgettable surprise during the Lionesses’ victory celebrations on Tuesday, as Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy made a special appearance much to the delight of the coach and thousands of cheering fans.

Wiegman, who led England to a dramatic UEFA Women’s Euro victory over Spain via a penalty shootout in Basel, Switzerland, was visibly thrilled as Burna Boy, her favourite artist, embraced her before they danced together in front of the crowd.

The celebration, which featured an open-top bus parade through central London, drew thousands of supporters eager to cheer on England’s most successful women’s football manager and her squad. The atmosphere reached a fever pitch when Burna Boy appeared unannounced, sparking excitement among both players and fans.

Earlier, Wiegman had joked about her team’s habit of leaving results late. “I hoped for a little less chaos,” she laughed. “But they didn’t keep their promise to finish things quicker. Still, they showed up when it mattered most.”

Amid the festivities, England forward Chloe Kelly caused a stir with an F-bomb during the live celebrations, while Wiegman, undeterred, danced joyfully alongside Burna Boy, who delivered a high-energy performance in her honour.

The Lionesses returned to the UK on Monday, just hours after their stunning shootout win, capping off a memorable tournament campaign. The victory marks a significant milestone in Wiegman’s reign, further cementing her legacy as a transformational figure in English women’s football.
