The Super Falcons of Nigeria were given a rousing reception in Lagos on Wednesday as they continued their victory tour following their record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title win.
Fresh from being decorated with national honours — Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) — by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday, the team landed in Lagos to thunderous applause, fanfare, and a sea of jubilant supporters. Chants of “Champions!” rang through the air as the players arrived, proudly displaying the WAFCON trophy that has once again affirmed Nigeria’s dominance on the continent.
The Lagos State Government, in recognition of the team’s outstanding achievement, is set to host the champions in grand style. A trophy parade around the state is scheduled to take place, giving fans across Lagos the opportunity to celebrate with their heroines and show appreciation for their hard-fought victory in Morocco.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is expected to lead state officials in honouring the players and technical crew, while also using the opportunity to reinforce Lagos’ support for women’s football and grassroots sports development.
