Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has dismissed two members of his cabinet in a strategic move aimed at revitalising governance and improving service delivery in the state.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by his spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, the commissioners for Environment, Engr. Emat Kois, and for Intergovernmental and Special Duties, Hon. Tukur Ibrahim, were relieved of their duties with immediate effect.
Governor Zulum expressed gratitude to the outgoing commissioners for their service and wished them success in their future endeavours.
To fill the vacant positions, Zulum appointed Engr. Mohammed Habib and Ibrahim Hala Hassan as the new commissioners for Environment and Intergovernmental and Special Duties, respectively.

In a related development, the governor also approved the appointment of Professor Yusuf Gana Balami as the Executive Chairman of the Borno State Secondary Education Board.
Professor Balami, a seasoned academic and Professor of Educational Psychology, hails from Hawul in southern Borno. His career spans decades, beginning with the Borno State Ministry of Education (1984–1988) before joining the University of Maiduguri, where he rose to the rank of professor in 2014.
He is a member of several professional organisations and has authored numerous academic publications.
Governor Zulum congratulated Professor Balami on his new role and urged him to apply his vast experience in education to reform and strengthen the state’s secondary school system.
According to the statement, all the appointments have been forwarded to the Borno State House of Assembly for legislative confirmation.
