Former Arsenal and Chelsea forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has completed a return to Olympique de Marseille on a free transfer, just a year after initially leaving the French club.

The 36-year-old Gabon international joins Marseille following his departure from Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah earlier this month. He is reported to have signed a contract that will keep him at the Ligue 1 club until 2027.

Aubameyang enjoyed a productive season in Saudi Arabia, scoring 21 goals and providing three assists in 36 appearances across all competitions, helping Al-Qadsiah finish fourth in the league and reach the final of the King’s Cup.

His return to Marseille marks a second stint at the club, having previously scored 30 goals and delivered 11 assists in 51 matches during the 2023–24 season.

This latest move represents Aubameyang’s fifth club switch since parting ways with Arsenal in February 2022. During his time with the Gunners, he netted 68 goals in 128 Premier League appearances and served as club captain before leaving by mutual consent after disciplinary issues led to him being stripped of the armband by manager Mikel Arteta.

Following his Arsenal exit, the former Borussia Dortmund star had brief spells at Barcelona and Chelsea, with his time at Stamford Bridge lasting just one season in 2022–23.

Aubameyang’s return to Marseille signals another chapter in a storied career that has spanned top leagues across Europe and the Middle East.
