The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Niger State Governor Umaru Bago to reverse the shutdown of Badeggi FM, a privately owned radio station in Minna.
The governor had ordered the station’s immediate closure, license revocation, and profiling of its owner, citing “unethical” broadcasts and incitement.
SERAP described the move as “arbitrary and unlawful,” urging the governor to reinstate the station’s license, withdraw the threat to demolish the premises, and end the crackdown on freedom of expression and media freedom.
The organization warned that failure to comply within 48 hours would lead to legal action.
