Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been granted conditional bail after being charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

The 32-year-old Ghanaian appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday to face allegations involving three women. According to prosecutors, the alleged incidents occurred between 2021 and 2022, during Partey’s time at Arsenal.
He was formally charged four days after his contract with the Premier League club expired at the end of June. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 2 at the Old Bailey.

Partey arrived in court wearing a black zip-neck jumper and trousers, carrying a navy blazer. In the dock, he spoke only to confirm his name and acknowledge the bail conditions.
As part of his bail, he has been ordered not to contact any of the complainants and must inform the police of any permanent address changes or international travel plans.
The charges stem from an investigation that began in February 2022 after a woman came forward to report an alleged rape. Since then, further complaints were made, leading to the multiple charges.

Partey’s legal representative, Jenny Wiltshire, has said he “denies all the charges against him” and looks forward to “finally clearing his name.”
Meanwhile, reports suggest the Ghana international is set to join Spanish club Villarreal on a one-year deal, with an option for a further 12-month extension.
