Renowned Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, is under investigation by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) after he attempted to board a commercial flight in Abuja with a prohibited liquid substance.
The incident, which occurred on Monday, August 5, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, sparked a brief commotion during boarding for a ValueJet Airlines flight (VK 201) to Lagos. FAAN said K1 tried to take an unapproved quantity of liquid—later identified as alcohol—onto the aircraft in a flask, in clear violation of aviation security regulations.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah, said the musician ignored multiple warnings from aviation security officers and the flight captain.

“Preliminary investigations confirmed that the passenger attempted to board the aircraft with a flask containing liquid exceeding 100ml,” the statement read. “This contravenes Nigeria’s National Civil Aviation Security Programme and ICAO Annex 17, which prohibit such liquids unless medically justified and properly declared.”
Despite being informed of the restriction, K1 allegedly refused to comply. Tensions escalated when he was asked to step aside for further screening and reportedly responded by spilling the flask’s contents—alcohol—on a ValueJet security officer.
The flight captain intervened to de-escalate the situation but was also met with resistance from the musician, FAAN said. Once the other passengers were safely on board, the captain ordered the aircraft door to be shut.
K1 allegedly moved to the front of the aircraft and refused to vacate the area despite repeated instructions from airline staff. He was eventually escorted away by the AVSEC crime unit for questioning and later released.
