Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, have confirmed their final 12-man roster for the 2025 FIBA Men’s AfroBasket Championship in Angola, scheduled for August 12 to 24.

The 2015 champions are seeking a second continental crown, 10 years after their historic maiden triumph.

Drawn in Group B alongside Tunisia, Madagascar, and Cameroon, D’Tigers will open their campaign against Madagascar on August 13.
Following weeks of rigorous preparations, head coach Mohammed Abdulrahman trimmed the squad, releasing Fola Fayemi, Kareem Joseph, and Mohamed AbdulSalam from camp. Big man Peter Olisemeka was also ruled out after being deemed ineligible.
The final line-up is headlined by NBA guard Josh Okogie, with experienced campaigners Talib Zanna, Ike Nwamu, Stan Okoye, and Caleb Agada also making the cut.
Emerging talents Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu, Mike Nuga, Devine Eke, Christian Mekowulu, Martins Igbanu, Ugo Andrew Simon, and Emmanuel Omogbo complete the roster.
The 2025 AfroBasket will be the 31st edition of the tournament, first held in 1962. Angola remain the most successful nation with 11 titles, while defending champions Tunisia will look to retain their crown. Sixteen nations in total will compete for Africa’s most prestigious basketball prize.
D’Tigers will be aiming to emulate the success of D’Tigress, who currently hold the women’s continental title.
