Unknown armed men have kidnapped a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Saadu Dauda, along the Katsina-Ala-Takum road in Benue State.

The incident occurred over the weekend when the vehicle, a Toyota Carina II with registration number KLD 108 AA, was traveling from Takum, Taraba State, to Katsina-Ala with seven passengers on board.

The gunmen mounted an armed roadblock at Tsede Village, robbed the occupants, and whisked away Dauda. His identity was confirmed through his NYSC ID card found in his bag left in the vehicle.

Security operatives have begun a coordinated operation to track down the abductors and secure Dauda’s release, but the state command of the Nigeria Police Force has yet to release an official statement.

In a separate development, the NYSC has clarified that it withheld the Certificate of National Service (CNS) of corps member Ushie Rita Uguamaye due to her failure to attend the April 2025 biometric clearance exercise, not because of alleged critical remarks about the government.

Uguamaye’s service year was extended by two months, and she is one of 131 corps members whose certificates were withheld for various infractions.
