A tragic boat accident occurred in northwest Sokoto State, Nigeria, where over 40 people are missing after a boat carrying 50 passengers capsized on its way to Goronyo market, a popular food produce market in the state.
The incident happened on Sunday, and rescue operations are currently underway. Ten people have been rescued so far, according to Zubaidar Umar, head of the National Emergency Management Agency.
The agency is collaborating with local authorities and emergency responders to locate the missing persons.
Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident, as another boat accident in Niger State three weeks ago resulted in at least 13 deaths and dozens more missing.
