The United States Mission in Nigeria has introduced a new requirement, mandating visa applicants to disclose all social media usernames and handles they have used within the last five years.

The directive, announced on Monday via the Mission’s official X handle, aligns with the U.S. Department of State’s enhanced screening measures aimed at strengthening national security.

According to the Mission, applicants must provide a comprehensive list of their social media profiles on the DS-160 visa application form. Failure to do so, it warned, could result in visa denial and possible ineligibility for future applications.

“Visa applicants are required to list all social media usernames or handles of every platform they have used from the last five years on the DS-160 visa application form,” the Mission stated.

It further emphasized that applicants certify the accuracy of all information before submission, noting that omission of social media details will be treated as grounds for refusal.
