The Kebbi State Government has appointed Alhaji Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami as the new Emir of Zuru, following the death of the late Emir, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sami, who passed away on August 16, 2025, in a London hospital at the age of 81.
Governor Nasir Idris gave his approval and the letter of appointment was formally presented in Zuru by Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Garba Umar Dutsin-Mari.
The new emir emerged after securing the highest number of votes in the selection process conducted by the Zuru Emirate kingmakers, out of three candidates screened by the emirship election committee.
Dutsin-Mari stated that the appointment aligns with the will of the people and the recommendation of the election committee.
He urged the new traditional ruler to rule with fairness, justice, and the fear of God, while preserving the legacies of his late predecessor.
