Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is on the verge of joining Bayern Munich on loan, with the German champions holding an option to make the deal permanent.

According to reports, Chelsea will receive an initial loan fee of £13m (€15m), while Bayern will have the option to buy the Senegal international for £56.2m (€65m) at the end of the spell. A sell-on clause has also been included in the agreement between the two clubs.

Jackson, 24, has already agreed a pre-contract with Bayern and has been granted permission to travel to Germany to finalise the move.
The forward joined Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023 but has struggled for playing time this season following the arrivals of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap. He has not featured for the Blues since coming off the bench in their Club World Cup semi-final victory over Fluminense in July, and was an unused substitute in the final win over Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite scoring 24 goals in 65 Premier League appearances, Jackson has often been criticised for his finishing. Over the past two seasons, he has underperformed his expected goals tally by seven – the second-highest margin in the league – and has converted only 18 of 61 big chances (29%), according to Opta statistics.
Chelsea currently sit fourth in the Premier League after two games, but Jackson was absent from both fixtures – a goalless draw with Crystal Palace and a 5-1 win over West Ham. The Blues host Fulham in Saturday’s early kick-off.
