Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has launched a Women Economic Empowerment Programme in Nasarawa State, providing 500 less-privileged women with N50,000 grants each to boost their businesses and improve livelihoods.

The programme, under the Renewed Hope Initiative in partnership with the Tony Elumelu Foundation, aims to support women traders and small-scale business owners across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state.

This initiative is part of a larger effort to empower 18,500 women nationwide, with 500 women from each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory benefiting from the grant.

The First Lady emphasized that empowering women would have a ripple effect, benefiting households, communities, and the nation at large.

The Tony Elumelu Foundation donated N1 billion to the Renewed Hope Initiative to fund the programme, which targets women who wake up daily determined to provide for their families, educate their children, and uplift their communities.

The beneficiaries are expected to use the grant to recapitalize their existing businesses and improve their economic activities.

The Nasarawa State First Lady, Silifat Abdullahi-Sule, commended Senator Tinubu and the Tony Elumelu Foundation for the empowerment programme, urging the beneficiaries to utilize the funds wisely to justify the efforts of the First Lady.
