Currently, the price per kilogram of cooking gas hovers between N950 and N1,020, depending on the location.

State-by-state analysis shows that Adamawa, Rivers, and Taraba recorded the highest prices, while Yobe, Niger, and Nasarawa had the lowest.

At the zonal level, the South-South region recorded the highest average price, followed by the South-East, while the South-West had the lowest.

The recent drop in cooking gas prices offers some relief to households grappling with high food inflation and other energy costs.

However, industry experts warn that despite Nigeria’s vast gas reserves, poor investment in processing and distribution infrastructure leaves households exposed to global price shocks.
