The Association of Resident Doctors, Federal Capital Territory (ARD-FCT), on Monday, commenced a seven-day warning strike.
The decision was contained in a communiqué signed by the association’s president, Dr. George Ebong, alongside other executive members.
According to the doctors, the industrial action was necessitated by what they described as the long-standing systemic failures in the FCT health sector, which they said requires urgent and comprehensive reforms.

Ebong noted that resident doctors in the territory were overstretched, often compelled to cover multiple departments due to manpower shortages.
He said the strike was intended to draw attention to the worsening conditions, stressing that government must act swiftly to avert a total collapse of healthcare delivery in the FCT.
More details are expected as the strike progresses.
