A peace meeting was held in Katsina State’s Faskari Local Government Area between local traditional leaders and wanted bandit kingpin Ado Alero, along with a group of armed herders.
The meeting aimed to address the region’s worsening insecurity, marked by frequent killings, kidnappings, and destruction of property.
Alero explained that tensions with security operatives began after one of his followers was arrested without explanation, despite appeals to local and state authorities.
He also alleged that security agencies were responsible for violence against Fulani communities, calling for justice and fairness from both federal and state governments.
During the meeting, Fulani herder Kwashé Garwa condemned the stereotyping of Fulani as bandits, emphasizing that criminality exists among all tribes.
He urged the government to allow justice to take its course and for leaders to do the needful at the state level.
Garwa also questioned why only Fulani actions are publicized, while atrocities against them are ignored.
