President Bola Tinubu has announced the end of the state of emergency in Rivers State, effective midnight on September 17, 2025.
The state of emergency was declared on March 18, 2025, due to a constitutional impasse between the Governor and the House of Assembly, which had brought governance to a standstill.
With the lifting of the emergency, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Nma Odu, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly will resume work in their offices from September 18, 2025.
President Tinubu urged all governors and houses of assembly to prioritize peace, order, and good government to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.
