Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi has said he remains confident of being cleared of rape allegations, insisting he has “peace of mind” as French prosecutors push for him to face trial.
Speaking to journalist Mouloud Achour in an interview for Canal+ programme Clique, a preview clip of which aired on Wednesday night, the 26-year-old Morocco international denied any wrongdoing.
“I know that what I am accused of is a lie,” Hakimi said in Spanish. “I know that I have not done anything, and that I would never do that. Today, I have peace of mind… hoping that the truth will soon be revealed.”
Hakimi was charged in March 2023 after a 24-year-old woman alleged he raped her at his home in Boulogne-Billancourt, a suburb of Paris, on February 25, 2023. At the time, his wife and children were away on holiday.

The woman, whom Hakimi reportedly met on social media, went to police after the incident but initially refused to make a formal complaint. Despite that, prosecutors pursued charges, alleging rape.
In August this year, the Nanterre prosecutor’s office confirmed it had asked the investigating judge to refer Hakimi’s case to a criminal court.
Hakimi maintains that the case is an attempt at extortion, a claim strongly rejected by the complainant’s lawyer. “Nothing in the case lends in any way to a characterising of extortion,” Rachel-Flore Pardo told AFP, accusing the player of trying to create “a counter-fire” often seen in sexual violence cases.
Despite the ongoing legal process, Hakimi has continued to play regularly for PSG and the Morocco national team. He was a key figure in Morocco’s historic 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-final run and also featured in PSG’s UEFA Champions League triumph in May 2025.
