For Nigeria, this year’s tournament marks their 14th appearance on the global stage. Twice finalists—in 1989 and 2005—the Flying Eagles arrive with both history and ambition on their shoulders. Head coach Aliyu Zubair has assembled a balanced squad of homegrown talents and Europe-based stars, determined to sharpen their attacking edge and make an early statement.

Norway, meanwhile, are entering their fourth U20 World Cup campaign. Still chasing a maiden appearance beyond the group stage, coach Bjorn Johansen’s Young Vikings bring grit and resolve, intent on breaking their past limitations with a bold performance against Africa’s giants.

The Flying Eagles’ team sheet brims with promise. Goalkeepers Ebenezer Harcourt (Sporting Lagos), Clinton Ezekiel (Bayelsa United), and Rufa’i Abubakar (Mavlon FC) anchor the defensive unit.

In defence, Ocheche Amos Onyejefu (Stade de Reims, France) and Daniel Bameyi (Bayelsa United) add international pedigree. The midfield is equally solid, with Daniel Daga (Molde FC, Norway) and Israel Ayuma (NK Istra, Croatia) offering creativity and steel.

The attacking line boasts explosive firepower: Achichi Oseer (Royal Antwerp, Belgium), Kparobo Arierhi (Lillestrom SK, Norway), and Sani Suleman (AS Trencin, Slovakia) are tipped to lead Nigeria’s hunt for goals.

With pedigree meeting aspiration, the clash against Norway will test Nigeria’s readiness for another deep run, while offering the Young Vikings a chance to prove they can upset tradition.

As both sides take to the pitch in Talca, the world will be watching to see whether Nigeria’s Flying Eagles can soar early—or if Norway’s determined Young Vikings can script the first shock of the tournament.
