The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria has suspended its nationwide strike following a resolution with the management of Dangote Refinery.
PENGASSAN President, Festus Osifo, announced the suspension at a press conference in Abuja, stating that the decision was made out of respect for national institutions and the mediation effort by the federal government.
Although expressing dissatisfaction with parts of the communiqué, Osifo warned that PENGASSAN would resume the industrial action without notice if Dangote Refinery fails to honor the agreement.
The dispute began when PENGASSAN directed its members to cut crude oil and gas supply to the refinery after the company dismissed workers for joining the union.
A compromise was reached after a meeting between the union, Dangote Group, and government representatives, including the National Security Adviser.
