Gunmen invaded Rani Ramat village in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State on Sunday evening, killing one person and abducting the village head.
The attack occurred around 6:20 p.m. during Maghrib prayers, when residents were gathered at the mosque.
Witnesses reported that the assailants stormed the community on motorcycles, shooting indiscriminately and throwing the village into chaos.
Alhaji Liman was shot dead on the spot, while the village head, Alhaji Ndako, was abducted and taken to an unknown location.
This incident highlights the growing insecurity in the Patigi Emirate, where rural communities have been repeatedly targeted by bandits.
