Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have been drawn in a challenging group alongside France, Germany, and Korea for the final qualifying round of the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026.

The draw, held at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland, was conducted by former French captain Endy Miyem and German international Marie Guelich.
D’Tigress will compete in Group A, hosted in Lyon-Villeurbanne, France, where they will face Colombia, the Philippines, Germany, Korea, and France for a spot in next year’s World Cup.

A total of 24 teams have been split into four groups of six across France, Turkey, China, and Puerto Rico, with matches scheduled from March 11–17, 2026.
The top three teams from each qualifying tournament will earn a place at the World Cup in Germany, joining the host nation and a Continental Cup winner to complete the 16-team lineup.
In the group containing the World Cup hosts (Germany), the top two teams will qualify alongside the hosts and a Continental Cup winner. The 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup will take place from September 4–13, 2026, across two venues in Berlin, Germany.
