The Nigerian Army has arrested a suspected fighter of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) who was allegedly attempting to spy on soldiers in Baga town, Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno state.
According to the army, the suspect serves as a logistics and intelligence courier between terrorist enclaves in Chad and Niger Republic. He has been handed over to 403 Amphibious Brigade for further investigation.
In a related development, three ISWAP terrorists who surrendered in Niger state cited intense military pressure and hardship in terrorist enclaves as reasons for their decision.
Meanwhile, troops also raided a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Akwa Ibom State, arresting a notorious kidnap kingpin identified as Emmanuel Akpan.
