Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi is set to become Nigeria’s all-time appearance leader in the Premier League when Fulham face his former club Arsenal at Craven Cottage on Saturday evening.

The 28-year-old equalled Shola Ameobi’s record of 298 Premier League appearances earlier this month when he started against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. A start or substitute appearance against Arsenal will move him clear at the top of the Nigerian appearance chart.

Iwobi, who began his top-flight career at Arsenal before joining Everton and later Fulham, has been one of the league’s most consistent Nigerian performers since his debut in 2015.
With Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho no longer in the Premier League, Iwobi stands as the only active Nigerian close to the 300-match milestone.
Behind him and Ameobi on the all-time list are Nwankwo Kanu (273 appearances) and Yakubu Aiyegbeni (252).

Fulham, unbeaten at home this season with seven points from three matches at Craven Cottage, will look to bounce back from consecutive 3–1 defeats to Aston Villa and Bournemouth.
Arsenal, meanwhile, sit atop the Premier League table after four straight wins across all competitions and boast the division’s best defensive record.
