The Plateau State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party has scheduled its Elective Congress for Saturday, October 25, 2025, to elect new executives who will oversee the party’s affairs.
According to the party’s statement, the congress aims to strengthen the party’s structures, consolidate unity, and promote internal democracy.
Delegates from the 17 local government areas, key stakeholders, and party faithful are expected to participate in the congress, which will take place at the WAYE Foundation, Doi-Du, Jos South Local Government Area.
The party’s leadership expressed appreciation for the members’ loyalty, commitment, and peaceful conduct, emphasizing the need for a more vibrant and people-oriented PDP that champions development and good governance on the Plateau.
The congress is also seen as an opportunity for the party to reaffirm its collective resolve towards building a stronger PDP.
This development comes against the backdrop of past crises within the party, particularly ahead of the 2023 general election, where the All Progressives Congress capitalized on the PDP’s internal issues to claim Assembly seats.
The PDP’s efforts to strengthen its structures and unity are aimed at preventing similar situations in the future.
