US Vice President JD Vance is set to visit Kenya from November 24 to November 27, following the Group of 20 (G20) leaders’ summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he will represent President Donald Trump. The visit underscores the strong diplomatic ties between the US and Kenya, a strategic partner in the region.
Kenya has been designated as a major non-NATO ally by the US in 2024, highlighting their growing relationship.
During his visit, Vance is expected to meet with Kenyan President William Ruto and other senior officials to discuss key areas of mutual interest.
Trade and regional security are likely to feature prominently on the agenda, particularly with Kenya aiming to finalize a trade deal with the US by the end of the year.
The Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), which expired on September 30, 2025, may also be a topic of discussion, given its significance to Kenya’s economy.
