A new US Congress bill has proposed targeted sanctions, including visa bans and asset freezes, on individuals and entities allegedly responsible for severe religious freedom violations in Nigeria.
The bill specifically names the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) and Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, citing their alleged involvement in Christian persecution.
The US House of Representatives has also placed Fulani-Ethnic Militias operating in Benue and Plateau states on the Entities of Particular Concern (EPC) list.
The Nigerian government has denied these allegations, maintaining that religion is not a major factor in the country’s insecurity issues.
