The attack has raised concerns about escalating insecurity in the region, with security analysts warning that the Lakurawa group’s actions signify a deliberate shift toward targeting government infrastructure and personnel.

Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, has defended the bandits, claiming they are on a “revenge mission” and motivated by grievances and vengeance, rather than sheer brutality.

Gumi has long advocated for amnesty and negotiation with the armed groups, urging the Tinubu administration to unify and rehabilitate them instead of launching military offensives.
