Nigeria: Veteran Journalist Dan Agbese Dies at 81

Mr. Dan Agbese, a renowned journalist and co-founder of NewsWatch magazine, has passed away at the age of 81.

The veteran journalist died on Monday morning in Lagos, according to family sources.

Agbese, a former editor of The Nigeria Standard and the New Nigerian, as well as former general manager of Radio Benue, was a highly respected figure in Nigerian journalism.

He held degrees in mass communications and journalism from the University of Lagos and Columbia University, New York, respectively.

Throughout his illustrious career, Agbese authored several acclaimed books, including “Nigeria Their Nigeria”, “Fellow Nigerians”, “The Reporter’s Companion”, “Style: A Guide to Good Writing”, and “The Columnist’s Companion: The Art and Craft of Column Writing”.

Agbese served as the Editor-in-Chief of NewsWatch magazine until April 2010, leaving behind a legacy of excellence in journalism.

His contributions to the field of journalism have been widely recognized, and his passing is a significant loss to the Nigerian media landscape.
