Abdurrahman Ahmad Kandarawa, a member of the Katsina State House of Assembly representing Bakori Local Government Area, has successfully facilitated the release of 45 individuals who had been held captive by terrorists for an extended period.
According to reports obtained by SaharaReporters, the release, which occurred last Friday, followed a renewed peace agreement between local leaders and the kidnappers, aimed at ending prolonged hostilities in the region.
In a video obtained by SaharaReporters, one of the abductors confirmed that the agreement was honoured by both sides. The bandits urged security agencies and government authorities not to escalate the situation, allowing their people to safely return to the town and resume normal life.

Hon. Kandarawa, who led the negotiations, likened the process to international peace efforts, citing agreements such as the Gaza-Israel accord. “Even in the world, peace agreements are made to ensure coexistence,” he said. “There is nothing wrong in making peace to secure a lasting and peaceful future for our people.”
Meanwhile, insecurity continues to plague other parts of the country. Earlier reports from SaharaReporters indicated that terrorists attacked the Maga Comprehensive Girls’ Secondary School in Kebbi State in the early hours of Monday, abducting an unspecified number of female students and killing at least one staff member.
A school guard was also injured during the assault, which occurred around 5:52 a.m. The attackers reportedly opened sporadic gunfire while the students were preparing for morning routines, leaving fear and chaos in their wake. Residents are calling on the Federal and State governments to take urgent action to rescue the abducted girls.
Separately, in Kwara State, terrorists launched a deadly attack on Rogun Village in Kpada District, Patigi Local Government Area, killing two security operatives. According to a security source, the incident occurred late Sunday night when the gunmen stormed a police outpost, engaging officers in a fierce firefight that lasted several minutes. The attack left a police constable and a vigilante officer dead.
The incidents highlight the continuing security challenges in multiple regions of Nigeria, emphasizing the need for urgent and coordinated government action.
