The Lagos State Government has announced an indefinite postponement of the planned rehabilitation works on the Lekki–Ajah corridor.

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the government said the decision became necessary to allow for additional planning and to minimise potential disruptions to traffic along the heavily used route.

Osiyemi noted that the government remains committed to executing the project but will require more time to review logistics and ensure a smoother implementation process when work eventually commences.

The rehabilitation project had earlier been scheduled to begin on Saturday, November 15, 2025, and span eight months until July 15, 2026. However, the new commencement date will be announced once all preparatory measures are completed.

The commissioner appealed for patience and cooperation from residents and motorists, assuring that the postponement is aimed at achieving a more efficient and less disruptive rehabilitation process.
